    Intercooler drawing...

I know my mouse skills are not that good in drawing, but here is my idea of buildng-fitting an intercooler, larfer than stock, but with having 2 compromises.

    1) keeping the original inlet manifold

    2) keepin as much as it is possible the AUX rad.

I came up with this idea and i would like your opinions, since my aux rad has a small leak from some rock i presume, and since i would change it anyway,i thought that it would be a good idea to make it work without buying the new reverse inlet manifold and saving some $$$ .

I have placed the water injector fitment at the beggining of the intercooler outlet as seen on the drawing, the ventilator will have to go of course, and i presume that i have to have an option of placing the MAF at a certain point at the pressure side and thus be open to alterations after the hoses are made.

I think using the maf after the WI wont be a problem but if it is,then i may place the WI injector just before it leaves the front side after the aux rad so i can place the MAF before that

    what do you guys think??
    thanks
    Vasilis

The water injection point is where I put mine and it worked well.

why not have the air flow running bottom to top eg end tank on the top and bottom instead of at the ends (left and right) then have both outlets at the same end that way you can junk all that extra piping and have a shorter inlet track??! Youll gain intercooler effiency as well

      here is an original picture,
can you show me what you mean?
you mean that the inlet and outlet of the intercooler should be on the same level?
the good thing is that i have someone here that can build nice curved tanks and this is good for the flow.

ohhh i understand what you mean...

        you mean something like this:

i have heard that these arent all that much efficient.is it true?

This is the B E S T solution. Very clever the guy who thought about it!!! But he thought it with a modification: The IC Holding-Crossmember points should be integraded on the new pipe. So it will save some more space.

            Go Holset or Go RS4

this is a good option GT500 but the measurements seem small.Although they say it supports 1000hp,can it be so much hp on so small core?I dont mind, but im giving thoughts to my mechanic now that i have decided to keep my inlet manifold

Yeah...very inefficient.and you will end up with a pressure drop much greater than using the OEM style design.

if you think about it the pressurised air is forced into the IC, runs around the cores, hits the sealed side of the IC and then collides with itself on its return path and makes its way out of the outlet eventually (path of least resistance), at significantly lower pressure! = lag, lower boost levels, possibly higher IATs?

yes i realise that after some reading,so i scratch that off,i also scratch the GT500s option as well due to the inability to have a large core with this style intercooler. So the best option is the one that i have done on top.
have you seen tots new crossmember?i cant understand how he fitted the this big intercooler and the tubes on top without cutting the top part of the front bumper!!!i could imagine that the tube is hitting the top part

Heres the intercooler u looking for ...
Have a look at the turbulators in the core, high density.

                            Faheemo,
this kind of intercooler produces only one problem.Due to the fact that the tanks are top and below,it makes it difficult to position the core completely on the mesh of the RS2 bumper and also due to the size of the tanks it leaves no room for a bigger core. This core seems smaller than that of the RS2 core,so i dont see the improvement rather than the fact that the tanks deliver the air in a larger area on the core.

i dont know if this is doable, probably is,but how is it flow wise?i have no idea...
