    Turbo Frequency Regulator

Having major problems with 3b not responding immediatley to the throttle. Have just changed wastegate diaphragm and this has not solved the problem. Have bought a Turbo Frequency Reguator form VAG parts (as was suggested) but cannot locate this. Could someone assist with a picture or something.

Any other suggestions as to why the car is hesitating when throttled would be happily accepted. This does not just occur on WOT but during most phases of acceleration.

This item is down the left side of the engine bay, in front of the air box, behind headlight, above the dump valve. its connected into the large bore rubber hose that feeds off from the MAF down to the turbo .

Best i can do without a photo

It is if it is an ABY Engine, if it is a 3B Engine, its on the right next to the engine block side of the Turbo Intake pipe.

Its in the same place on both
It is being described by Brian as you look head on at the bonnet. Not from the driver seat!

            Cheers guys

I did search through the forum for Frequency Regulator and found no hits. The trouble with searches is that if it requires full text matching and you don't know exactly the terminology it doesn't return any hits.

thanks for the info and i will go and look now.

            Cheers

Looking at engine. LHS, take Headlight out, remove plastic trim behind headlight and infront of airbox, peer inside and locate the WGFV attached to three pipes. Prise off pipe clamps and replace.

Reassembly is reverse of removal. (1 - 2 hours tops...)

                  Cheers,

                  Steve.

                    Hi guys

No the car doen't misfire it just seems to stagger for a second before accelerating. A comparison would be somewhat like turbo lag but can happen at any revs.

                    Cheers

Do check you haven't got loose plugs. Is very common.

                        Hi Niglem

Have checked all the plugs and leads that i can think of and all seem OK. I am wondering if one of my turbo pressure pipes is cracked. I have checked all the ones i think connect to this but don't know the full setup. If someone has a diagram of the turbo pressure pipes to check i shall do this as wel.

                        Thanks

                        Kevin

Sounds like a boost leak to me. Lots of threads as Jamo said, just a question of chewing through em really. Think everyone on here has had a boost leak at some stage.
