      Hi Stu!

Yep! Exactly what I was looking for. I commend you for being a useful chap.
Basically just trying to confirm what I already knew. This piston is a KS one not a Mahle.
      Cheers!

Indeed it is. I could've shown the top to prove that.

Yea, but that would have made it less intriguing!
Just wanted conformation. You're right of course. The KS symbol is a bit of a hint.

I've got another couple of sets that aren't very clean, but I suspect they are the same.

              All 3b?
Wonder if any model got Mahle pistons as standard fitting?
Another of those myths I guess.

Those pictures are of an ABY piston. I've just been and taken a piston out of my 3B engine, cleaned it up and it's the same, a Kolbenschmidt piston.
I've got a set of 7A pistons around somewhere, I wonder who made those.

I don't have any evidence of Mahle pistons being OEM here anyway.

Very Interesting! (to be said in a vaguely Germanic accent!)
Oh well! Would have prefered them to be Mahle. However, they would appear to be pretty robust considering what abuse other members have given them.
                  Cheers Stu.

twoqu was lucky. I was eyeing up the surface grinder last night. Although he didn't need to see the KS logo anyway.

                        Wow!
You mean you only run one compression ring, the second! There is only @7.25mm of piston meat above the first ring!

The 3B engine got forged Mahle pistons. They can handle up to 3bar. A guy in sweden runs with over 800hp and 2.6bar with these stock Mahle pistons.
ABY, AAN, ADU has got KS pistons. (don“t know if they are forged)
All these information have I got from a former worker at MTM.

I've got a set of KS pistons from a '91 3B. I'd be interested to see a picture of these mythical Mahle OEM pistons.
