Difference between RR and 3B motor?

A friend of mine recently discovered that he has an RR motor in his coupe. It was originally thought to be a 3B and it sure looks identical to a 3B but the turbo and the RR stamping on the head give it away. Anyone know what the differences are between the RR and 3B?

No difference really, same engine apart from the intercooler setup in each of the cars (ur-quattro and S2).
The RR engined quattro could run on 95 octane unleaded petrol to achieve 220bhp, whereas the 3B S2 had to use 98 octane to attain the same power.

An RR engine in a S2, using the S2 intercooler etc. would basically be just the same as a 3B.

Whats different with the turbo? should be the same for both engines. The plumbing for the breather system is a bit bifferent, but same engines.

        RR Turbo PN's

The turbo on this RR engine has a tag on the cold side that lists it as a K24 7002 with a PN of 034 145 703a. The hot-side housing on this turbo has a 5326-101-7388 casting number. The cold side has a 5324-101-5084 casting number.

Can someone with an RR turbo engine look confirm these PN's are similar on theirs ?

Thanks Ben for all your assistance yesterday !!
