Some just don't bother with the cover at all to avoid heat issues, looks a bit raw but I quite like the functionality of it!

If you do decide to run with the cover then cooling holes / slots and lots of them! IIRC, Corey tried it without and had a few problems do a search. A CNC machine would be useful to make something a little special!

i have read the thread where he ran it with the coil cover on and he had a coil failure so was thinking of getting a hole machined at the front 2 try and get cooler air in and then load of slots in the top

Was thinking of speaking to one of my mates very nicely and see if he could program his machine 2 cut a large quattro shaped hole in it or a large set of audi rings dunno if he could do this would look good tho

What you want is the Apikol coil pack cover. Lots of slots and such for air. There are photos in one of the recent coil pack related threads (photos from S4knight IIRC).

I still go with the OEM coils - sure they are more expensive but the lifetime is fantastic and I wouldn't like the look of slotted covers with dirt and stuff getting in there as well.

It was S4 Knight Rider and here is the link to his coil pack installation photos including the Apikol coil cover.

See I just don't like the appearance of that slotted cover - exactly what I feared. BUT in fairness thats a very slick looking kit that is plug and play for a very good price. Fair does...

If I was going to do it I would use the 034 high output coils and 3B/7A cam cover.

I just seen to many failures on various cars with the 1.8t coil packs

Was about to ask if anyone had tried these high output ones... with 100k about to scroll past on mine it can only be a matter of time before they need doing. With a set of original coil packs being over £300 at VAGParts prices (**** knows from a dealer) and the 034 High Output set being about the same at current exchange rates, it could make sense.

                  Ck.
