To boost or not to boost

Is it possible,that a car can not boost consistenly,every time.Have check for boost leaks pretty thoroughly(although not 100% sure)seems the boost is not consistent.Have checked threads,could knock sensors be at fault?Surely if the turbo if spinning it is providing some form of boost,is there any other factors apart from the obvious boost leaks that can cause these symptons?

Do you have a boost gauge fitted ? What do you see on WOT ? You will only get full boost ( or "overboost" ) in high gear under full load ( uphill (say) in 4th or above ). If limited to appr 0.4 bar or so it could be the WGFV (as prev post), if it fluctuates, you could have a boost leak that needs heat/pressure/movement etc to show up. Search the threds for the obvious places to check first. Every hose and hose join ( big and small ) needs inspecting - right through to the ECU and rear diff actuator. Some cars (mine included) seem(ed) to tolerate lots of small leaks without throwing fault codes or limp home overboost conditions. More specific symptoms may help the Forum to help you...

Hi Berty mate, get the car vag commed (might be a forum member near you with the kit...ask there are some really helpful guys on here) and get yourself a boost gauge and also a boost leak tester from Andy P on here, then you will have a clearer picture of whats going on.. or.. er wrong rather CheeRS Al

I've had something like this a couple of times this week, upon driving i've pulled away once in 2nd and once in 1st and changed gear quickly started acc again and its foot to the floor but took a couple of seconds for the guage to move from 0-10 psi just seemed to be flat then all kick in, didn't feel like lag felt more like there was something not quite right. apart from that been ok although mpg isn't as good as when first picked the car up.

Ive just had a visitor at my place in the form of Rob`bertie`bertman Bloody nice bloke as it goes, very nice car that seems to run fine in my opinion (for a stock aby S2 with 140k on the clock).. its obviously been well looked after. After a quick run up and down the local dual carrigeway we discovered that Robs not a very good passenger Anyway seems to boost fine and i think he was simply under that same old impression a lot of us have had that the car would be or seem faster than it actually was/is and hes got used to the 230 brake very quickly .. anyway after chewing the cud and putting the world to rights i sent him packing with my boost tester and boost gauge to confirm the boost situ... i think hes needing a homefry and some uprated brakes now after our little chat Hes got them electric recaros (mmm comfy)

Chipped and no brake upgrade me myself im near Goodwood, west sussex... Rob (or Bertie as he wants to be known as) is from Surrey... hes got fabric electric recaros and hes got`wood` in his ragussa avant (nice )

lol yeah I know the brakes are a bit of a worry at the moment but being changed soon as they was smoking a bit earlier and stunk.

I'll look foward to that mate,bug**r the nappies I'll go for one of those wet suits which has a nice tight seal at the neck,wrists and ankles,should prevent any unwanted leakages! what the hell might as wear mask and flippers as well!
