Hi - I'm new here so forgive me if I'm asking questions that are already answered elsewhere. I've just bought an ABY lump to go in my WR quattro and need the follwoing parts:
Inlet manifold and throttle body
Water manifold
Fuel rail
I was wondering what flywheel and clutch combination I could use. Will the WR's flywheel work?
I've just been telling Will what a great forum this is and how helpful and knowlegable people are, don't let me down
I was fairly certain that he should use the WR flywheel not the duel mass from the ABY but I'm not 100%.

Got the car back from the spray shop yet will? and will the pictures of this conversion be in the mag, would like to see it in more detail what is involved etc as i'd be tempted to do this as well.
As a general rule it is easiest to match the flywheel/clutch/gearbox of the vehicle to the engine. You will have to source the correct pilot bearing to fit the input shaft and mount it in the crank.
The early 10V WR used a relatively heavy flywheel. An alternative would be one from either a MB or RR which is flat. You would need to get the corresponding clutch assembly.
All use the 240mm clutch.
Good too see that you have found us Will would it not be best for Will to use a 3B flywheel ? and use the correct pilot bearing to mate up to the 016 gearbox input shaft
Hello all. I've now fitted the WR flywheel and clutch. I've also removed the pilot bearing from the WR crank and fitted it to the ABY engine. The short motor's now in the car. but I have a very large pile of bits (not least the head) which are yet to go on. Looks like I've turned my everyday car into a project vehicle. Oh well...
I plan to use the 034 front damper with 60-2 toothed wheel and run aftermarket management. It'll all be in PPC. But first I need a water manifold, inlet manifold (with TB) and a fuel rail.
