    Hi all,

Anyone know what this is and where it should go, I discovered it just hanging loose when topping up coolant and am a bit worried???

    Cheers,

It's one of the timing sensors. Should be mounted in the same alloy block as the other one and secured by a bolt.

I'd say one has been replaced and the old un not pulled out, wheres the other end connected to?

As I said above it should go in the same alloy block as the other one. Perhaps this pic should help. As you can see they sit side by side. One is raised up slightly.
I think I can just make out the bolt thread on the other side of the alloy block.

Depending on the colour of the other end (grey or black) its either the engine speed sensor or the crank position sensor. See the URL for more details:

This is for the 7A engine. ABY guys will have to point you exactly.

Probably didn't get pulled out cos it goes through a plastic pipe, fiddly to do but not hard!

Bet the other end is flopping 'bout too!

Definately a spare. The top picture shows 2 sensors in place and the offending dangler.

I guess the person that left it there didn't have a pair of wire cutters.
