Altenator Question

Hey Guys,
Please excuse my noob question, but is the 3B motor altenator different then the 20v n/a motor one? I'm located in Canada, so I'm not sure where I'll be able to find one if they are different. Do you guys think I'd be better off just getting it refurbed? (the original owner put the battery in backwards and tried to jump start it, and it's been driving off the battery since, so now i know the problem)

are you sure that the alternator is bad. The small blue wire receive 12V with ignition on, with engine started the big wire send 12v?

The 20vcq and 3b alternators are physically interchangeable but you'll have to check the spec on the stickers to make sure they are rated the same.
I live in Sheffield, England where just a couple of weeks ago we had the worst floods in about 150 years and being the chancer I am I decided to follow a land rover through a flooded section of road. Lucky for me I didn't hydraulic the engine, despite water coming over the bonnet at one point, but I did knacker up my alternator so I used the one I have off a 7a (20vcq) and its been fine so far.
