I'm wondering about the merits of changing the std fan for something like a pacet - looking for something which is quieter, more efficient and hopefully more reliable than my current one. something somewhere isnt right could be electric, could be the fan or one of the sensors but as the car will soon be in bits its the right time to swap if there are any benefits...
I've got a permacool fan to fit to mine later this year when we fit the alloy radiator. Won't be until September though so can't report on it's performance just yet.

the best intentions are fraught with disappointment - gil grissom
Mr Halligan has replaced his OE fan with an aftermarket unit, I'm sure he'll let you know how the upgrade was achieved. The original units are huge and pretty low tech, I can only see improvement with a high flow replacement. The question is do you blow air from the front or suck from the back!
yeah can only be an improvement to upgrade to something from this centuary and on mine it will need to be a sucker as the aircon rad sits in front of the rad anyway so there is no space infront i dont think...
Steve, is your car ready to hit the road this year?
are there any modifications required on the original wiring to hook up to a pacet/permacool etc? The space and weight savings are definately good reasons to make the leap
Cheers
David
Did anyone mount cooler fan? What size to buy to fit it to original cooler? Im sticking the AAN engine (intake aswell) and I have a problem with lag of space since i need to install the cooler a bit sideways.
It only has 2 wires, so I wired to the normal speed fan which kicks in around 87degrees I think. You lose the option of the 2 speeds that the standard set up has bit hopefully I'll never need it!
