a k24 cant give 400 hp! but a k26 may give the power; maybe( think it was tooo mutch ) :mischeif:
i will go for a larges turbo if you want more than 500+ hp( larges turbo= larges camms) garret gt 40- 42 gives 260+ degrees on then camms , and deasent tubular EM........!!!!!!

I'd hardly say old KKK turbos are dinosaurs compared to modern Garrets. That is like saying a 20V Audi I5 is a Dinosaur compared to the 2.0FSI. A VERY innacurate comment IMO.

Garrets spool faster, but there are some trade offs for that faster spool. The bearings are more fragile than journal bearings, especially from thrust. Once up to Revs, I think the differences in delivered HP are extremely minimal. BB Garrets are definately more responsive initially.

And I do have both. I have a GT35R in my F250 Diesel and a K29/K27 in my Rally car. I would not exchange one for the other.

I’m sorry but I didn’t get the answer. Let’s ask it other way round. Which turbo spools up the most quickly and delivers about 430hp/580nm (to the safe edge without changing rods)?

In the KKK zone... the K27... dunno which one of the K27, you might study the A\R of the turbo and your engine flow capacity at that power. Depending on your engine and ECU setup you can get up to 420-550bhp S1's turbocharger is a K27. Because of the large compressor wheel, the big turbine side... lag is a must and boost comes from the end mid range rpm to the high range rpm. I don't have studies over the kkk hybrids.

Garrett offers more turbochargers to get that power you say. On the T family, a T3\T4 could arrive to 350-400 ponys easily (I'm buying one of them... fast spool up, reliable and biggie ), there's the T60-1... up to 350-470HP, T61 goes out from the ~430hp limit. There's the GT family too that has better compressors design for less lag and more reliability... you can start with the GT30 up to 400horses, GT35 up to 450 or more horses, GT40... wow...is a start to big turbos... go for a smaller one! hahaha

Guys, I'm intending on giving an aproximately amount of horses (to the fly)... I repeat, every horse depends on your setup... engine displacement and internals, all the head, ECU, pipery, intercooler, temperatures... There are some people that installs an T60-1 on a 2.5L engine and only gets some 300 donkey horses! A friend of mine got a T60-1 on his Fiat and got 320bhp but is a 1.6 engine! The efficiency results from the power to eng.capacity ratio. A 1.6 T60-1 with 300 horses is a lot more efficient than a 2.5 with the same turbocharger. 430hp is a large zone with some turbos that could arrive to them depending on setups.

I hope this reply could help to answer your question.

P.S.: PLease, I don't know anything about the 2871 and 3071 Garret family... please somebody can post any description about them? thanks a lot.
