    Audi radiator/cooling designs??????

Whay do Audi build cars with a main and auxilary rads?
Why is the main rad the smallest and why is it located so far into the engine bay?
Is there a thermostat between the two rads in order to have the ability for the car two operate in a very cold climate and a very hot climate?
Is the oil cooler a water/oil or air/oil cooler?
Does the oil cooler cool engine or gear oil?
Is there a gear oil cooler?
Do the cores of the cabin heater ever burst (happened in a car of mine giving the car an odour of an old drunk tramp)?
UrS6 - Homefry, Bailey DV, PiperX filter, Samco hoses, H&R springs, 3" D/P back zorst, 270bhp and 260ftlb

The main radiator is quite big because it is quite thick as well the idea of the aux rad is for hot climates like yours and other europeen hot spots and there is one thermostat
The oil cooler is air cooled and is below the drivers side front bumper
    Oil cooler cools engine oil
    No gear oil cooler
Heater Matrix can burst but you will see the evidence in the footwell and it is a pain to change allegedly
Plus the engine is so long you would struggle to get a rad in front because you have a intercooler there

Odd that there is the 2 rads and only one stat, because in cooler climates optimum temp wouldn't be reached, or is the stat between the two rads and not between the engine and rads.

It's not odd having two radiators and one thermostat, it's just like having one big radiator.

Yes - they are plumbed in parallel - so it is like having one bigger radiator... A single thermostat does the job nicely. You can easily remove the aux rad if you like, but in a hot climate you do run the risk of higher water temps than you might like. Pretty rare scenario in the UK, but not for the outback or the northern territories eh skip.
