There are more and more cases of the crimped-on crank position pin on the stock flywheel taking early retirement and taking off to places unknown. Not only your S2s but also on the AAN-equipped UrS cars.
I know one local (to me) UrS-club member lost his crank timing pin and was able to get his father (former millright (IIRC)) to weld it onto the flywheel through the starter hole. On that basis, I wonder if it isn't smart to do this NOW, before the issue shows up (very difficult to diagnose - the crank position code shows up on any engine that won't start, pin or no pin.)
Discuss.
