Aby intercooler Fitment on my 1.9 TDi Avant

hi all

just before i get shot down i know this isnt a S2

BUT there are a few out there with 1.9 tdi Audi 80 s

and i got spare time on my hands

I just fitted aby intercooler and carrier to my 80 Avant,had varies rubber turbo pipes in my collection and fitted all together this afternoon.....(not easy with limited tools on hand)...need to find hoses with correct diameter ends to make a prossional look about it.

Removed headlamps ,front bumper,radiator and carrier and slam panels......
as i am running Audi 90 front end took time to fit the correct bonnet striker pins brackets ..........
made a small temp radiator(as i cant use my excisting one)
taken i run to my home from my folks to see the outcome.........(4 miles in town driving )


Well she does seem to put better......smoother from 3rd up the rev range.............but not quite liking the drop at gearchanges....but since i must wait till tomorrow for a proper run will try to figure out hw to make a better radiator set up.


Looking for suggestions(Iserious ones please)

Cant get a 5 cylinders radiator to work(tried it its sits too close to p/s pump...and bracket)


The space i got is the same if you look on the S2 intercooler subframe....


So thats my day

why would you want to fit a aby intercooler on your tdi ?

wanted to see firstly if it would make a difference to performance..........a bigger intercooler....that is
i cant afford a S2 so i gotta deal with what i got

i do quite a bit of travelling daily
due to limited funds have to use whats affordable and avaible...........


and not one to stand still....................

and i having free time today.............thought todays a fine day to play around....................EVERYTHING WENT FAIRLY WELL...........
got tensiuoners and belts changed and thought since everything was here lets have a go

went too smoothly doing belts and tensioners
went for a run ...............thought feels better
put everything else back on ...........but just radiator problem holding me up
