    Fuel filter seals

    Hi guys,

Bought the OEM Mann fuel filter from GSF yesterday. It only came with one aluminium seal...

I had it fitted at a mechanic this morning went to collect the car and when I opened the bonnet there was fuel leaking from both sides of the filter. Below are pictures of the way they installed it. I tightened the input side and that seems to have stopped the leak there but it is still leaking slightly at the banjo side....

How many washers do I need and where are they supposed to go? The parts diagram shows one on either side of the banjo. is this correct?
PS.. The mech. asked if I had a "stonger fuel pump" when I took the car back... cos he couldn't stop the leak...

The washer should be on the other side of the banjo bolt union. I'm pretty sure you only need one washer. Hmm maybe not, FA shows one on either side as you mentioned.

Hmm almost sure mine came with two copper washers, one for each side of the banjo. If he was short them why didnt he re-use the old ones, better than none. Infact why the hell didnt he check it was leak free before giving you back the car! You came dangerously close to a fire there IMO.

There tupence there should be one either side of the Banjo IIRC

Got to ask but did you relocate your fuel filter to the engine bay???

        I wouldn't like mine there!

Should you be able to get them at any parts shop or is it a dealer thing?

That's where the filter is located on the urS4/S6. Easier to service, but dangerous if there's a leak!
There should be washers either side of the Banjo connection, and also one at the other end of the filter (between the adaptor and filter).
