Hi as the title suggests is it worth running at gt3071 on a standard 3b manifold as all the other manifolds on the market are crap the reports i here are they all crack.
I have searched for an rs2 one with no avail (if anyone has one spare pm me money waitin ta ) Would the standard manifold be up to the job ta.
I pretty sure it won't flow enough to make use of that turbo...
*waits for others with more experience....*
Cheers,
Steve.

I would not have thought that you would be able to run massivce power but from what I've read/heard, an RS2 turbo on a standard S2 will do 330bhp max so expect similar figures.
You really should get the best EM you can find and a decent exhaust too, otherwise you might be wasting money! 2871 might be a better bet if you want to keep lots of standard stuff.

Echoing above comments... don't bother with the 3B mani and this turbo - there really is no point. May as well max out the K24 at circa 300BHP, coz you're not getting much more out of the manifold!
I bought a new RS2 EM (£500) to go with my GT3071. Did have a used one but it got knackered. Make sure you take measures to ensure there is some flex in the downpipe and wastegate section to acommodate expansion and you'll do alright with it.
Failing that, there's the wagner EM on the way, and the SQ EM if you can get hold of one will work, too! Or you can go tubular and take your chances, just ensure the turbo has some bracing to support it.
Unfortunately there is no cheap way to run this turbo, as Jamo said it's a real beast with an easy 450+ capability.
Oh Gawd. When is that manifold just going to go away and die? Its got so many issues or potential issues going against it. Here is one report from an ace wrench who bought one for giggles:
"Hi Dave!
Good to hear from you. Yes, I have done some "refining" of the Chinese "RS2" header I purchased about a year ago. If someone else bolted one of those on right out of the box I'm really surprised they accomplished that w/o alot of work before hand. The first on I got from a place in B.C.-Exotic Speed-was the name of the place-was warped badly at the head flange-appx. .080" and you could see daylight through a weld ground through in the collector. They sent me another one that was just as warped, but on all the flanges. I decided to keep it (paid $300.00) and had it re-tigged on both the collector welds adding welds on areas where there should have been some but weren't, had all the flanges re-surfaced and port matched the holes in the head flange-all were off a bit and several bolt holes needed slotting. I now have appx. $500.00 in it plus an OE manifold gasket as the one they supplied had most of the holes in the wrong places. I have not yet installed it as I have been trying to decide what to do with it.
Anyway, re: stock down-pipe & air box/MAF placement-NO WAY -this china header places the turbo alot higher than the cast manifold, not even remotely close to the stock location, new oil & water lines are a neccessity. As for the other guy's header cracking within 2 hours... did he install a brace to support the manifold & turbo? If not I'm not surprised it cracked-you don't happen to know where it cracked do you?
I'll let you know how/if my modded china-fold works out...
See ya!, Chris"
On that basis, buyer be VERY aware.
