    1.8T Coil pack connectors/plugs

    Hi Guys,

Got all my bits together to carry out the 1.8t coil conversion, except the 4B0 973 724 connectors. Just spoke to my local dealer, and to get all the bits together for 5 connectors comes to nearly £60!

Is this the only connector in existence that will fit, or are they used elsewhere on VAG cars? I am back down the breakers tonight to see what I can find, but last time I couldn't see any cars that used those coil packs.

This must be a standard 4 pin connector?

BTW has anyone got a good clear picture of the connector, or the 4 pins on the coil pack to help my search...

Have a look at this( if you haven't already)
If you are looking in the breakers any 1.8t engined car (a3,a4,gti,cupra,vrs)
with the 4 pin coil will have the right connectors.( check with which coils you are using)
The ignition loom has the 4 coil connectors a couple of earths and just plugs into the main loom next to the cam cover.
You will obviously need 2 looms (5 cyls) and then make the full loom up from them.
      Also check out this thread:

      hope this helps

Cheers ... Those pictures will help (I am still waiting for my coil packs in the post you see)

Hopefully I will find a later VAG car tonight... I guess it needs to be from 2000 on to have coil packs

            There is another connector that works: 1J0 973 724 A. Needs 000 979 133 A pins - which also work (better?) with the 4B0 973 724 connector.

ALSO: The proper ECU to harness connector (that emulates the four pin end of the OE POS) is a Volvo 978161 (you need 2). The pins are 978299 (you need 6) and 970773 seals (need 6).

It's not just the 1.8T engines that use this connector! I got 3 of mine from an Audi A8 3.7 so it's worth checking under a few different bonnets.

No joy tonight, but they say all the newer european cars go to their other site, so will check that out.

Yeah found the 4 pin ecu connectors on some volvos and stole some rubber boots of an A4 which finish them off nicely...
