help with chip

hello i read some time ago, what way the chips are supposed to be inside the ecu, I have got one original 3b unopened, ecu and one tuning ecu, got 2 new chips from a friend witch he has used, in the 3b engine.

My question is just what way is the little "cut" goes. I have seen someone do a write up on this but, cant find it again.
