    Improved engine performance

Hi, from my dissapointing rolling road day at the castle combe VW/Audi day (257bhp/288ft.lb), i decided to give the car its regular 5000 mile oil change, but away from the usual millers 10w-60.

Its a fine oil, but thought from recent forum discussions the 60 weight may have been a wee bit over the top and couldve been sappin a few of the engines horses compared to the silkolenes 50.

Filled her up tonight with the silkolene 10w-50, cleaned up the spark plugs (only midway through their service life) and a new air filter.

Engine does seem ever so slighty stronger through the rev range now, so roll on ADI rolling road for another attempt to get through the 280bhp barrier, or at least reach it.

    Brian

BTW, can someone bring along a boost leak tester, be good to confirm if i have any.

The reason for the 60W is to provide more protection in the turbo either due to an old turbo or if you like thrashing it / sticking it on track. 50W should be fine for road use IMHO. Run both (Valvoline) but not noticed much difference TBH.

Hope you get there Brian, I've been working hard too

I'm using the Silcolene 10W-50 too.
I'd like to say that it has made my engine smoother but it might be more psychologial than anything else.

Brian, I will bring my pressure test it to ADI for you (and anyone else) to use.

I'm looking forward to getting mine on the rollers if possible.

P.s. I got my oil from Opie Oils and found them to be excellent. They were also one of the cheaper although it isn't a cheap oil so beware!

If you read the oilman thread Andy 60W is too thick for the engine 5w40 and 10w50 are better suited to the S2
