    Wastegate Mod

Could anybody tell me how i would know if my wastegate has been modified. The red paint seal has been broken. If it has been modified to allow adjustment is it just a case of screwing down the centre allan key to increase boost. If this is the case will the ECU be able to detect the increase in boost. Running stock WG at the moment (i think, boosting around 0.7Bar) with apparently a first stage chip.

    Thanks in advance folks.

If the round metal seal right on top of the wastegate is missing and has a nut or something protruding from it (or not if it's been removed) then yes, it's been messed with. If that seal is still there, then it's never been adjusted.

Easiest way to tell if WG has been bodged is to drive car with WGFV unplugged - you should see 0.4bar boost.

A stock 3B boosts to 0.8bar with the WGFV connected and everything else healthy.
Stock ABY runs to 1.1-1.2bar for lots more mid range torque.

Either running good chips which maximise potential of the stock turbo run to 1.4bar for a honk more oomf.
