I have the alternator light on the dash coming on faintly every so often and when this starts the ABS light starts flickering on and off. Is this a related sympton, just bad luck or some other off world power trying to talk to me.
Sounds like the rectifier/voltage regulator thingy in the alternator. I had the same and it only got worse until it had no charge under 2000rpms. Keep it above 2k and the red light went out. ABS light does ring a bell, i think it might turned off for me too.
P.S. It was the only time i ever found the volt gauge usefull, keep an eye on it and see whats going on.

hmm i;m getting no charge until about 40mph and higher than 2000rpm so is that definately the regulator and if so anyone got a price/part number. My Alternator is for a 3b a/c equipped verson (110amps?)
at 3b the ABS unit gets an 12 v input from the blue wire from alternator. If the alternator is not ok. the ABS will swich off. That blue wire is the same with the one from the dash warning light.
I think that you should change first the regulator and then think at other expensive stuff.
just spoken to a Bosch main agent who tells me they will have to make contact with bosch in Germany to obtain details about availability/prices etc? Anyone successfully managed to locate one in the UK, if so where
