    Some unknown things!

    Hi!

My ABY S2 is equipped with a 3b engine and a Autronic ECU, therefore I am trying to remove all the unescesarry looming in the engine bay. While doing this I have found som cabling and stuff that I am not sure what is, so if any of You know...

    Pic 1:
The arrow pionts to a bracket that holds two round connectors marked "1" and "2", what are they connected to? They disappear under the water manifoild...

    Pic 2:
Shows a hose that goes into the torpedo wall, but was not connected to anything... Maybe this is a hose that connects to a Cruise control motor?

    Pic 3 and 4
Shows a valve, I guess this is for the Cruise control? Pic 4 shows a tank where the biggest hose goes to, But the small one goes over to the right hand side of the car and into the torpedo wall, what is this?

    Regards

I *think* that picture 3 is just a air filter, is there a part number on it?

            @ Terry

Its Custom made by KRB Trading, its gonna be for sale this winter. Changing it out for the Furans one. It brakes 515 BHP with no problem, but i want a reverse manifoild setup!

Picture three looks like the one way valve that goes to the rear difflock controller. It stops boosted air from pressursing the vacuum lines to the difflock.
It could also be the one way valve that stops boosted air from entering the carbon canister.
Either way, it's a one way valve in the vacuum system.

My personal guess on pic three is a "control" valve that connects to the Cruise Control motor, didnt mention it earlier but on the side of the valve that doesnt have a hose connected to it it says "Motor"...

Pic 1 could be the two knock sensors?

Pic 2 is the mounting bracket for the cruise contol pump. Hose could also be CC but i think it was larger than that. Could also be the original boost hose connecting to the ECU.

Pic 3 & 4 look like they were both a part of the carbon canister. From what i can tell on 7A/3B motors it sits down the back of the rad fan, and on ABY motors the box is inside the driver side wheel arch. (driver side for both LHD and RHD cars)

What is the function of the carbon canister?

Does someone have a manual or a part catalouge for the aircon system and the cruise control system. They are currently not working (Some parts removed from the car due to the engine upgrade) so it would be nice to have something that shows wich parts that are missing and how its build up...

The carbon canister is for emissions i believe and to capture vapours from the fuel tank. dont quote me though

Greg is on the right lines... In more detail, the carbon canister is used to treat the fuel vapours that build up in the petrol tank. It then vents these fumes into the engine via a little 'EVAP' solenoid that is controlled by the ECU.

It is interlinked with the PCV pipework on the car.
