    FPR oddity

    Been looking thru the parts system tonight with regards questions on injector O-rings and FPRs. I noticed that the ABY engine shares the same FPR as the V6 AAH and ABC engines (078 133 534C). Handy to know, but heres the oddity.

    The RS2 FPR has different rating but is same sized physical package as ABY. It fits into the same fuel rail with a clip (037 133 047A) that is called up for ABY, ADU, AAH and ABC engines.

    However, only the AAH/ABC engine (ACOQ-94-1-33 ill 133-92) shows a handy lil gasket kit listed for the FPR as 037 198 031.

    I was wondering if that gasket set comes with a new FPR or whether it needs to be ordered separately. I suspect its the latter. I'll add a note about this to my family album for future reference.

    So what's the difference between a 034 133 534 M for a 3B and a 078 133 534 C for the ABY (and AAN, AAH and ABC)? I know the RS2 FPR 034 133 534 P is 3.8 Bar.

      It's a standard Bosch package. I had 3Bar, 3.5bar and 4 bar ones for an old Golf in various states of tune. Based on taht I would have thought that the gasket set is universal but I have no proof!

        Physical packaging of the 3B style FPR is different from ABY one.

        The 3B FPR package is common with 7A.
        The ABY FPR package is common with ADU/RS2 (and AAH/ABC it appears)

        Nominal specs from memory =

        7A = 4.0 bar
        3B = 3.0 bar
        ABY = 4.0bar
        ADU = 3.8bar

        Hence the reason why 3B owners going the RS2 route take the 7A FPR along with RS2 injectors.

                Kick

                Right now I have a 4bar FPR in my ADU setup.
                Will the ADU engine run much richer with the 4 bar FPR instead of 3.8 bar as original for RS2? I mean, will you notice that the ECU holds back the boost or will it regulate the fuel pressure itself to 3.8 bar?

                I already noticed that the fuel economy has changed towards the wrong direction
