Recently Remapped Custom ECUs

Hi guys - it`s Doug_RS2 - i can´t login for some reason - And I´m being sad and in a cafe in Tenerife!

I noticed Mark and Steve have had their Cars remapped - by Mihnea? - Any chance of some feedback on the differences and how the mapping went. Mark - I was expecting more torque from yours.

I wish I had mine done at the same time :mad: Next time Mihnea is over hopefully.

Its mad mate, a different motor, an unbelievable difference and there is room for a lot more with the turbo I am using, the only limiting factor the moment is the standard rods.
As for the torque, I know Mihnea deliberately kept the boost lower at the higher rpm's to save the rods which is fine by me as I'm feckin skint now! Or it might be something to do with the heat that day on the rollers.
Heatsoak was a major problem.
As an illustration: we did five power runs with different changes to the software each time but could not get above the mid 370 bhp level, the car was then left with the fans blowing on it and after about 15 mins we did another power run and it did 393 bhp, thats the difference the heatsoak made!!
I think there will be plans to return to the rollers later on in the year when it's cooler, and I will definately be there to see what it does then. Hope to see you there then.

Are you allowed to spray water onto the intercooler while it is on the rollers? That could make a huge difference.

Try and get some video clips of your car at CC so we can all hear the noise it makes - and pics of the turbo - my mates want to see that on the car, after seeing it at GTI.

Mark, where did you run that wastegate pipe? I wanted to do the same to mine, but i haven't tackled my mate yet, is the noise too much? Does it really bark like fuc#? If so then i am doing it

it comes out just behind the offside front wheel. As for the sound....well its ****** lairy, probably a bit too loud really as I am thinking of fitting a small silencer on it.

yes they do let you spray the intercooler, in fact they let you get involved in the whole process to get the most out of the motor and time on the rollers, unlike some RR's.

Just make sure the pics are no bigger than 100k or they get rejected. Dont worry about it m8, i will see the car tomorrow, hopefully get my car mapped right, still has the odd flat spot. Mr N will hopefully help with this. Hope the rain holds off, and the temps stay low. Gets damn hot with a helmet on and the windows shut. Dont want to use the a/c, makes the car slower

I think so, not too sure, all i know is that it is a pig to work on now!!! Cant get any tools near the bolts anymore. Had to make some 'special' tools. Not worth it unless running high boost, also gives a lot of lag.

When does your turbo kick boost in?
It is a little bit temps related, but lets talk about "normal use" temps.
My RS2 one (chipped ECU) makes 0.6-0.7 bar boost at 2500 rpm, 1.7 at 3200 rpm. When very hot outside+engine temps, max boost can kick even around 4000 rpm, to me !
