Just amazed at the spec on that handheld scopemeter - two channels as well - I want one - its even got video capability for cryin out loud -

Aim-TTi designs and manufactures advanced electronic test and measurement equipment and laboratory power supplies

Looks like upwards of US$1000 for a brand new one mind. Too rich for me...

Car has been fine today. I will keep an eye on it. I am not taking it apart unless I have to!

(Its not a daily driver, so I am not bothered at the mo')

I will resurrect this thread if needs be.

            Cheers,

            Steve.

              Ah ha...

Threats of grubby mitts and probing with long screwdrivers made it work again! Also leaving overnight for the magic mechanic faries often works.

Veeeeeeeery technical this fault finding, leave to the experts!

I had exactly the same problems on my s6,it would run ok for days then let me down,it would always start in the end some times afew seconds ,sometimes anhour or so.Put up with it for weeks while I checked this and double checked that,in the end dessided to bight the bullet and do the hallsender. This fixed the problem and its been fine ever since.

Don't forget Steve, the car might start well enough, but if the hall sender signal fails whilst you are driving, the car won't stall but the ECU will disable knock control, limit full boost to 0.4 bar and retard ignition (IIRC 6 degrees ,but don't hold me to that)
It can also bring on overboost protection on WOT over "I think" 4500rpm.

Bro has been there and had us stumped for a while chasing other potential sources of these above.
