Need inputs from some 3B Coupe owners

With reference to this post in the MFTS thread -

Need some of you to do a very simple check with a voltmeter and report your findings. Just to bottom this out. All info you need is in the post - except a helpful photo which I'll add later.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Here's the picture I was eluding to... Thats from my ABY but I'm fairly sure these connectors are in similar place on the 3B.

My worry is that the Audi 3B self-study book which describes use of the R-pin is maybe just for 200TQ engined cars - as the UK schematics don't explicity show it used on a 3B S2 Coupe.

Any 3B volunteers with a voltmeter want to help this task for the good of mankind ?

I will have a look and try and locate the connectors and let you know how i get on.

Will it make a difference to the reading that i am currenlty getting the checksum error on the ECU or is it just a voltage.

          Fit Likey,

Found those two plugs nearer the drivers side on the 3b above the brake fluid reservoir.
Tested fixed part with 8 male pins as follows:

          Ignition on

          pin 1 = 12v
          pin 2 = 0v
          pin 3 = 0v
          pin 4 = 0v
          pin 5 = 4.5v
          pin 6 = 9.6v
          pin 7 = 0v
          pin 8 = 12v

          Hope this helps

          Regards

OK - cool - can you unplug your ECU and then test pin 5 again please - at the male side ?

Where you used to see ~5V should now be 0V

I am afraid i have some different results from the tests

Tested fixed part with 8 male pins as follows:

              Ignition on but not running

              pin 1 = 12v
              pin 2 = 12v
              pin 3 = 1.2v
              pin 4 = 10v
              pin 5 = 4.5v
              pin 6 = 1.2v
              pin 7 = 1.0v
              pin 8 = 0v

Hope this doesn't muddy the waters

              Kevin

Guys - pin 5 is the only one of interest. I need to know what the voltage is there with the ECU connected, then with it disconnected. Ignition ON in both cases for the test but obviously turn the key off when unplugging the ECU.

                    Thanks Steve -

Woohoo and yeay - thats what I wanted to hear. The R pin is connected to the 3B ECU - even though you cannot see it referenced on the 3B schematics.

Anybody else got a 3B they can confirm against ?
