Approx. 1 mile with Scorpion/de-cated and tubular manny!:mischeif:
Its all in the DTM tails.
Carlos.
On the look out for less bits for my s2 saloon project. Now supporting myself by shooting for my food. www.airgunforum.co.uk
I've got a Scorpion full stainless exhaust on my 7A, pretty nice sound, not too loud. For upgrading the 7A, you could go for the audi tubular manifold. Also, I know I did it on my 16 v engine, but I don't know if it is possible on 7A is to use another exhaust cam in place of the intake cam. It made a moderate difference on my 2.0 16v. About 10-15hp i would say.
well I bought myself an AAN brain and I´m collecting now stuff for electric ignition. then I plan to get an AAN intake manifold, injectors, and all what comes before airfilter. yet I don't know how does it work but I hope to see it soon. when I finish that l'll let you know.
I think that the ecu should work without turbo.
lumpy cams and throttle bodies... now that would be FUN
I'm asuming your guys used universal cones with the 7a?
anyone remember what size they used?
Biggest ramair one I could find, if I have time later I will put a video up of it.
Tubular manifold makes a world of difference, but tbh what i'd do is if you want to go quicker than most sort the brakes and suspension out as that will work out better than masses of power unless your on a motorway thats clear.
With AAN ecu you will run too rich at WOT... u'll see black smoke! I wouldn't do that... too rich A\F ratio means a very reduced mileage and a very reduced power...! Go for the 034EFI or MegaSquirt stand alone, there are other nice ECU's like the MicroTech Fuel Only that works great. To have that quantity of gasoline into the engine you gotta go for a better breathe. If you want better breathe I suggest you the Schrick 262's... they work very well, idle is great but low end rpm is a lot weak so you got to tune very good your injection and ignition maps to get a better response at low rpm; on the mid to top rpm you'll have fun! Then get the 5-1 header, high flow exhaust system, make a nice port and polish to your head, 1mm larger diam. valves, some nice spark plugs and coil pack(s), -0.75mm in the head height, short ram air intake manifold to get better high end torque, do NOT reduce more than 30% of weight on your fly! All this is w\o touching the bottom end of your engine... if you want to touch those other pieces that is another story and just a little more difficult!
Important suggestion, do not exceed too much your stock rpm limiter that way you will be avoiding future problems ( no more than 3 hundred rpm than stock), I know your engine will still pulling good, but your stock pistons have a limit... the far the limit is, the better. Good luck bro! Keep us informed!!! Post totally opened to suggestions and critics!

OK. I am soon to upgrade my 7A to 3B but I have managed to get 190bhp out of the 7A and know of a chap in Club Audi who had a confirmed 200bhp with his using of all things K-Jetronic.
My changes started with a de-cat and wrapping the 5 into 1 exhaust, followed by the fitting of a few basic replacement parts to ensure the beast was running properly (metal dist gear, new Lambda and knock sensors) and then set up everything as per the Bentley manual. This helped but low speed torque was poorbut went well after 4000rpm. I then fitted a set of multijet Bosch injectors and suitable adapters along with a selectable ecu map for 95 or 98 octane fuel from Patrick Carlier in Belgium, this improved low speed torque noticably. I then progressed to fitting the larger airmass meter and on a rolling road after this found the engine was now running lean with max power tailing off after 5600rpm due no doubt to the extra air that was now being sucked in. So then uprated to 315cc multi jet Bosch injectors and after playing around with the SMT6 piggy back ECU (sorry forgot to mention I had that) Achieved 190bhp and 180lb/ft torque. Some good sites for the 20V and which gives lots of info on the airmass mod is ( http://www.20v-sauger-tuning.de/ ) the piggy back ECU ( http://www.perfectpower.com/products/smt6.asp ) and 315cc injectors ( http://www.034motorsport.com/product...roducts_id=237 )
If you look at the Sauger site he tells you which one fits. Basically you need the newer (1991 on) 7A MAF sensor which fits directly onto the large style 2.8 V6 MAF housing. Just need to carry out a set up as per Bentley manual and fit the uprated injectors for 185bhp. Fine tuning with a piggy back ECU can increase that to 190bhp, mainly through altering the timing or if you have an early ECU Patrick Carlier can fit an uprated chip.
