    v6 running cold

I have bought my wife a 2.6 v6 convertable, and it seems to run a little cold, its slow to warm up but will reach 90, the fan cuts in then when you drive along it drops to anywhere between 50 and 70. I know nothing about the v6, or what temprature it should run. but could it be the thermostate, if so how would you check it ,and whear is it. Or maybe its somthing else.it not great on fuel by the way around 20.
any help or advice would be great

    Many Thanks Lou

v6 runs fairly hot to compared to others but sounds like the thermostat, right where the timing belt. Have to remove the cambelt and then the plastic cover that exposes the timing belt.

It also could be the MFTS sensor and you are just reading skewed info on the dash, to be honest I'm not sure how to test it and its accuracy but they are ~£40 iirc from vagparts.

Yes i managed to do it with out removing belt, had to take the tension off and slide it half off. you have to be very carefull when refitting the thermos housing, easy **** the seating off he "O" ring.

When you take the tension off you always loose alitle a bit of the phase. Camshafts turn some degree left when you put the tesnion back. use the special tool to get the proper phase. lock the drive shaft and lock the camshafts with a special tool and then loose the camshaft scroes put the tesion back and then lock the camshafts again. This is the onljy way to get the phase corectly like it has to bee. No way avoiding the procedure.
