Nice to see someone in Oz without the V8 disease.
Are you in Melb? If you are, where abouts are you?

BTW, I most definitely do not have the V8 disease.

In fact, one of the great pleasures that I get in life is to seriously embarrass the local V8s with the smallest capacity car I can find.

e.g. 2 cars I prepare, came 1st and 2nd in the Production class of the 2003 Bathurst 24 Hour race. 1st car beat our 2nd car by 12 laps, which was 12 laps ahead of the nearest V8.

We also won the 2005 Australian Production Car Championship outright.

The cars I work on are 1.8L N/A front wheel drive Toyota Celicas.

The only reason Ford and Holden started V8 Supercars was to avoid getting beaten by every 4 and 6 cylinder car around.

I think it is ridiculous that Ford and Holden monopolise thed V8 Supercar class. They don't allow any other marques as they know that they will get their arses kicked, especially considering that they are essentialy using 40 year old technology. A car with a Toyota V8 engine would destroy them. Makes for extremely tedious racing. Just got to copare it to DTM to see how poor it really is!

I always found it a highly entertaining, maybe because it is so different. The idea of great big saloons power sliding around Bathurst, if i ever go to Aus it’s on my list of things to see

The best bit is when the commentators would interview the drivers mid race with an incar camera, such a fantastic view of the race. Do they still do that these days?
