    1900 and 2000 ccm 5 syl have 77,4 mm stroke, others have 86,4mm( 2,2 and 2,3liters.) then you have 2,4 diesel and 2,5 tdi- they have 95,5mm there are som minor variants. 2,5 10v petrol may have 92,8( not all) and s1 have 85,00mm .......

          Seeing and measuring things for yourself is the only way you'll really know for sure.

                        I'll see how I get on with 86.4 mm first. I have enough spares to get a couple more engines done after that.

                          There's a man confident his 1st engine build will last......................

                          Hold on a sec aren't you helping me out .................

                          There a nice thread on motorgeeks about a theorectical 86.4 in a diesel block whether it would make power or not or be a pig

                              These 2

                              That is not a good idea... To use the stroker crank in the standard block, you are going to have to use shorter rods then is ideal. You'd probaby end up using something around 144mm (the stock length for the 86.4mm stroke). The key to engine longevity at elevated horsepower is a good rod...

                              Deck height = (stroke length/2) + rod length + compression height

                              Stock compression height for the audi 20v is:
                              220-(86.4/2)-144=32.8mm

                              By using a stroker crank like eurovan unit in the standard height block and standard length your compression height becomes:
                              220-(95.5/2)-144=28.25mm

                              The rod stroke ratio of one of these franken strokers is 144/95.5=1.51:1

                              The eurovan block itself has a taller deck height at 236mm. So if you kept the same rod stroke ratio and compression height as the franken stroker, you could fit this big of crank:

                              236=28.25+(x/2)+(1.51*x)
                              236=28.25+(2.01*x)
                              X=(236-28.25)/2.01
                              Stroke length = 103.85mm

                              With a 83.5mm bore this gives total displacement of:
                              ((83.5/20)*(83.5/20))*3.1415926535*10.385*5=2843cc

                              It would be a big pig, but who knows it might make big power.
