    ABY - 440 BHP @ crank - discuss?

Hi, I was just on 034's site and they have a new kit for the ABY/AAN/ADU. they recon between 325 to 350 BHP at the wheels, with a new turbo, map sensor, injectors and map, but basically change nothing else (they do reccomend rs2 ex man and better ex).

    Is this wise?

Oh, I have a 95 ABY avant, 95k miles, uses no oil what so ever, supersprint turbo back de cat. Stock otherwise.

    Thanks

Rods are rated against torque not bhp in the 1st instance.

            yeah fair point, but still...

THis is the kind of power i am lookin at for now, and i thought a grand ($2000ish) i sa bit less than i thought i would need to shell out!

So do you think the torque would be crap with this setup?

you are looking at around 500 to 550Nm of torgue depending on remap with that turbo if you buy the .63 hotside.A bit more with the .82 hotside but then again it comes in higher revs as hp mostly not torgue.SO basically a 500euro set of rods is an investment if you ask me just to be safe. The only problem is that along with that 500euro come the extra cash for the fitment of the rods which as a whole may be a conciderable expence.

On the other hand, here in Greece RS2 transformations which have been done(along with mine) out of around 10RS2 owners who i have asked or learned, only 2 had the engine internals changed. All others had the stock rods/pistons and almost none RS2 is less than 400hp crank.A couple of them are 500hp again stock. The question is ...for how long??

PapVas, thanks I am thinking rods may be a good plan just to be safe, as for fitting, not a problem, I have rebuilt a few in the past, just never tuned any (lack of cash due to presence on gf lol)

Did you get your hoses sold? Oh, on that matter, is there a samco hose for this turbo?

no,hoses are still available. As for this turbo i got the bell housing type which helps with surging and i grinded it to the 80mm(it is 100mm) to be excactly the same as the maf housing externally. Then it is easy to get a 180degree curb from samco or make a metal tube to fit the DV and WGFV and oil fume return line.
I dont know if the 3071R with the other housing is capable to use with the samco hose that is in the set.I think the inlet on the cold side is bigger than the RS2 turbo which the samco maf hose is meant for. However 034 may carry a hose for that turbo.Woth asking for it!

let me know if you need any help,or photos!
                      glad to help
