New Forge D/V for the Chav in you!!!

404page - Forge Motorsport - Designer and Manufacturer of Intercooolers, Actuators, Valves, Pipes, Silicon, Wastegates, and Brakes - Engineered for Performance in the United Kingdom

I've seen many posts on here asking if you can use an atmospheric D/V to get that nice chav whoosh sound
And people getting shot down with the correct answer that these motors and most VAG cars don't like them and need a recirculating type. :mischeif:

Well it seems those nice chav's (sorry chaps ) at Forge have come up with a solution
Listed for the 1.8T engines so presumably suitable for the S2 aswell (as many of us already use the S3 D/V as an upgrade?)
They'll relieve you of approx £150!!! for their new splitter D/V

But if you still have a bit of Maxpower running through your veins and you simply must fit in with the Scooby's, Cossies and that bright pink wide arched Renault 5 with 6x10" exhausts and a smashed front splitter from the speed bumps, on a sunday night down at McDonalds car park it sounds like a bargain to me

So with the chav bashing finished anyone want to see if we can get a group buy going for a discount!!!

Seriously though hope it helps someone

there's tons of posts on the s1 sound - most people say its turbine stall that produces the noise not the DV or wastegate. Remember too on a rally call the throttle is all over the place which is why you hear it so much, on the road i dont think you'd manage to recreate the sound. Also turbo stall isn't great for the life of the unit but i guess that was never a problem for the support team, just go get another off the shelf in the van

Personally I'd love the sound myself and i'm no chav but it has to be the right sound made the right way and i'm 300bhp and ££££ shy of getting it

I think the sounds has a lot to do with the vent port on the valve, the chhh waa waa waa sound is often heard on pulsar (sunny) GTIRs so i suppose i should have a look at what valve people use in them...

LoL I though the chav comparison might get a rise out of a few people :mischeif:

I do like the stealth of the S2 it surprises a lot of people, but I also like the sound of an atmospheric D/V (I just hate the kids on the McDonalds car park near us at the weekends with their half painted bodykited monstrosities!! Sorry I'm at it again...)
And an S2 that sounds like an S1 would be great
I know it's no real substitute for a massive hp motor, anti lag and a willing support crew.
But I might give one a go see what it's like first hand, I know at least if I keep it quite and I decide I don't like it I can sell it to my mate for his Leon cupra R He'll love it!!

The DV comes with a blank plug so you can make it FULLY atmos OR FULLY recirc. It also has 53 preload adjustments (may be 56 but is somewhere around there)

                      well

i think this shows one can sell almost anything. I mean it still lets air out in the atmosphere, and so not all the air calculated by the ecu, will go back (recirc). No i will stick with god old recirc.
Have gotten to many cars into work with, running faults due to open blow off valves

As already said, the S1 sound is nothing to do with the DV or any after market one!
It is simply turbine stall, caused by the air rushing back over the blades, which can cause it to stall if running high boost.
Im still very new to the world of the S2 and its setup, but on a Cosworth for example, to get that sound you simply remove the atmos DV and block the vacuum tube from the top of it. Obviously, the more boost you are running, the better the "chatter", but as above, that then puts your turbo lifespan at risk...

however when i first bought the car the original DV made that excact sound only not so loud.it was Very nice to hear. Now with all that mentioned,i dont know if this was something that had to be replaced...

When I got my totally standard S2 it had a small amount of chatter too.
I believe they all do it as standard? If the boost was then turned up, it would obviously get louder

Move the MAF to the pressure side and you can have either atmosphere or recirculating, otherwise stick to recirculating.
