You can use a stock inlet but would recommend you use a 7A exhaust or RS2 exhaust.
Head would benefit from a port job / larger valves.
IMO a 3071 would be rapid on a stroker but you would have to closely look at the compressor map.
Pisobiker had his RS2 on his stroker outside of it's range at 6krpm.
I would strongly advise if you went this this turbo you run a .82 hotside and not a 0.63

Red Baron is running short dec and 144mm, he has also wisely limited it to 6500rpm on that build. Here's the basic spec from the Red Baron S6 thread on Motorgeek.
This car sounds like it goes really well but if its a 2.6 short deck it must be running the 144 rods, right? Mmm. still lots to read, wish I could read Norwegian (if thats what it is
)
I'm thinking GT3071 with an airbox and about 500HP so I should be alright with this short rod 2.6 setup I think.. May have to go for a reversed IM as well ..
You wont get 500 out of a 3071, A stroker will move your power range and make you some extra torque but the bhp output of the turbo is governed by it's compressor map not the stroker engine.
On a GT3076R your looking 500-525 bhp
You looking probably 2.7-3k full boost from a 3071R on the strokerLast edited by Jamo; 5 November 2007, 13:24.Leave a comment:

GT 3071 comes with the 0.63 , 0.82 and 1.06 exhaust housings.
From my experiences i'd take the 0.82 housing on a 2.2ltr.
I felt that the 0.63 housing brought the boost on too hard and fell down abit on the top, even thou i had the 7a exhaust cam.
the 0.82 housing should smoothen the boost profile a little, and give you some extra hp on the upper rpms.
If u going to do the stroker then u should really be getting the 3076 turbo.
the 3071 will be a low down torque monster (full boost @ 2000 ?) running outta steam on the top. !
here's a run with 3071 0.63 exhaust housing 7a cams, tubular manifold , 3inch exhaust, 95 octane petrol , 1.8 bar max boost.
3rd gear pull on gtech.
after calculations i get a rough figure close to 460 crank hp !!Attached FilesLeave a comment:

As you increase the capacity longer duration cams are need to suit or the power band will move down the rpm range, the same as turbo choice. Obviously a larger engine naturally needs more airflow.
A turbo that comes on boost at 4k rpm in a 2.2 engine will boost much earlier on a 2.6, but the overall power will be about the same, as that turbo is the deciding factor in how much air the engine gets and therefore how much power.
I think you'd have to push a GT3071R pretty hard to get 475 bhp, likewise with the GT3076R and 550 bhp. You'd need the largest hotside to obtain those power levels anyway.
If you buy a suitably sized turbo for your 2.2 engine and then transfer it to a 2.6, it will pull really hard at low rpms, then feel flat at higher rpms, just like a diesel or a 1.8T on a K03 IMHO. Unless that's what you would like?
I can't see rpm limits being a problem on a stroker as generally the valve train is the weaker link in this area.Leave a comment:

Yes please
It started as a wanted ad but it seems to be collecting a fair bit of info.

if you use the small exhousing , you will have the low rpm,and low HP....
if you use the bigger ex housing, you will have the range a little longer up....
thumb rule; big camms= big turbos....... 7a aren't "big " camms( 221' dur)
bore and stroke ratio are the same in 2,2 liter( 3b) with 86,4 stroke, as in the 2,6liter with the 95,5 mm stroke....and the same max rpm...
the dieselblock are very strong.... and heavier

I'm thinking this thread needs moving to Projects and get called Newsh's Stroker Project

034 show a .63 and a .82, it'll be the .63 for me for the midrange, s'true they reckon the 3071 is good for 475hp and the GT30 for 550 but say the GT30 is "soft below 4k which is not what I want, this is definitely a road car and will spend most of its life between 2.5 and 4k so thats where it needs to rip. I'll prolly buy the 3071 and run it on the 2.2 for a while to see how I go and carry on putting the stroker together. I imagine the extra capacity will just add more torque to that equation
The question I was really asking was not about the A/R ratio but the housing style, see this page hereLast edited by newsh; 3 November 2007, 21:44.Leave a comment:

John. Stock 3B cams will probably strangle a 2.6 engine. A GT3071R will be on the small size too IMHO, unless you're looking for diesel style torque that runs out at higher rpm. You'll want a GT3076R or GT3582R really for a good 500bhp.
There is only one compressor housing on the GT3071R AFAIK, a 0.50 A/R. GT3076R has a 0.60, and the GT3082R has the same 0.70 A/R compressor housing as used on the GT3582R (GT35R).Leave a comment:

Whats the pros and cons on the different comp housings on the GT3071?
There's GT28R style, 2.75" or 4". The 4" has a beast of a bellmouth and needs a mad cobra hose thing.. Seen one fitted at White Cottage.Leave a comment:

Those who visited me a few months ago saw this car in stock form, here's a "teaser" since its getting very close to completion. Wink
