WARNING - Head gasket prices are big $$. Just bought one, and was shocked at the prices.

@Andy - thats spooky - I've just posted a long list of parts to Martyn & Co for a similar job - major service time on mine with regards timing belt and such. I need to change the upper gaskets in the cam cover - leaving the head there for now.

      Comparing your list with mine...

That timing belt and water pump are ABY parts from my info - not RS2 items as you state. New water pump comes with seal/gasket - dont need it separately.

      Bolts to fit - N 014 717 2 (x1) - I have x3 listed from my info plus washers

      I'm showing different tensioner/damper than you as well (054 109 479A) - weird

Here's my list of timing belt related parts for ABY - got me worried now so I'll go double check

      109-70 2 054 109 119 H
      109-70 4a 054 109 479 A
      121-15 1 054 121 004 AX
      121-15 3 N 014 717 2
      121-15 3a N 011 670 16
      121-15 5 N 010 247 8
      121-15 5a N 012 241 10

On my family album the RS2 timing belt is 034 109 119C (for Charlie)

        RS2 water pump is 034 121 004B (for Bravo)

Note also the tensioning damper is common to ABY/ADU and that it incorporates the relay roller when ordered as 054 109 479A

Oh but forget my nonsense about N 014 717 2 - just need one of those OK - not 3 as I said before... Brain fahrt.

Head gasket set from GSF here in the UK is £69+vat and is what many have used.

Paul, I'll check the items off and going to get them on order. i don't service mine as it's in my garage every weekend (well it seems that way!). Cheers for the part numbers. Mine were taken from a previous post. From what I've read, the RS2 water pump is over-driven so that it pumps more water and thus cools the engine better.

I'll post the final parts list and where I get things from when I've finished it.

            .
Mines going in a few weeks for Headgasket & Cambelt, was advised on high compression H/gasket if im gonna be uprating Turbo in not to distant future. Is the GSF RS2 gasket quite a capable option then?

I think you want a low compression HG for a high pressure turbo car, unless you mean a higher strength HG?

The GSF one is supposed to be just fine, I'm sure that there are quite a few using it without problems. I think that Chen, Bo and 4WheelDrifter are all using them for 400bhp but don't quote me on that just yet.

GSF one is Victor-Reinz kit, comes with valve stem seals and all other gaskets.

You can also get them from Pete at Quattro Corner.

                  Yup
the Victor reinz kit should do the trick.

If you buy it from GSf make sure you get your 10% discount

                  Good luck.

I put the GSF one on as well... very good and a good price

Would advice buying exhaust manifold studs and replace the lot of them as some will probably snap on you as they did for me and while the head is off replace the pipe that runs from the thermostat to metal pipe under inlet manifold that goes to heater matrix (total PITA to fix when all together)

Cool, didn't know we had 10% discount! Head gasket from VAG Parts is £45, GSF kit is £41. Not going to replace stem seals as it doesn't really use any oil and I can do this at another time anyway. Cheers for confirming Bo

Hose you refer to has been replaced already but top tip, mine was knackered and Jas11N's went bang the other week

Going to replace all exhaust studs, nuts gaskets as something is blowing. Also going to inspect the EM and DP whilst doing this work and the clutch to look for serious cracks. Also might replace imtet gasket whilst I'm there.

Going to be a long weekend of fun!

Have you included the gasket/seal for the oil return line from the turbo to the sump?
I have found it easiest to undo the oil line at the sump end first to get the turbo/head off.
