Still stalling

Evening All


There have been developments with my cutting out issue.

I have fitted a new G28 speed sensor today and also a rs2 maf.

Now the violent loss of all power for a split second at mid to high revs has gone

However I still have the stalling issue at idle.
Its very intermittent, can happen for no apparent reason or some times when a large electrical load such as A/c or fan switches on.

I have checked for air leaks and none are apparent and as the car (standard aby apart from 034 coil set and rs2 maf on ABYchip) boosts to 1.4 bar I'm satisfied this is not the issue.

Which brings me onto the good old ISV.

I have removed the top pipe and sprayed some carb cleaner into it.
This appears to have made a marginal difference.

However would a faulty ISV be the problem when coming back onto the throttle at anything up to 2000 rpm ?
As the car will still lose all power for a split second, agine super intermittently

No fault codes apart from "G28 implausible signal which I have ruled out"

If it needs replacing ill replace it just seams a little strange

PS despite what I have read rs2 MAF onto s2 ABY air box is a straight swap

your best off taking the isv off and soaking it over night and getting all the crap out of it.

yes has been replaced but you make a good point, fuel pump maybe ?


fuel pump makes a gurgling sound on start up, has done for a year.
Has it finally gone ?

fuel pressure regulator maybe ?

Ive always found IPA does a good job.

Just as a possibility when ross did project 400 (his 3b coupe) he found that his turbo was slightly sitting on the chassis and the vibrations kept stalling the car, whats your engine mount like on that side?

Probably best to clean the ISV fully to check that is not the problem.

After you have cleaned your ISV(or before even) i believe there is an output test you can do in vagcom to see if its actually moving as it should..

I think you need the full version of vag com to do the out put test, however I think this way of doing it should work.

As for the engine mount Ill have a look.

Ill give you an example though, I had the car running stationary in the garage for 20 minutes no problem then all of a sudden for no apparent reason she stalls, restarts straight way and all vag com says is G28 implausible signal.

How's the tag on the flywheel? it might have half let go, they are only spot welded on.
May have moved just enough to lose the tolerence between sensor and tag.
