  • ECU chip replacement'how to'?

is there anywhere i can find a step by step motronic opening so i can replace the eproms?Im planning to have them replaced by an expert, along with a dyno run,but im afraid he is asking lots of $$$ for it,besides the dyno run cost,so i was thinking i should do it myself.
    anythoughts?
    cheers

Was your ECU opened before? If not, then I would say, that it's quite difficult to desolder old chips to put sockets for new ones. I would leave this for expert, because there are few pins which are quite PITA.

If it was opened before, so search this forum, for two screwdrivers method, because tots.ch page which I was always using as ilustration, is no longer hosting this motronic eprom changing guide.

my ecu has been opened before and there are replacement shelves on the eprom pockets. So the only cause of alarm is openening and closing the ECU.Im good with my hands(hey im going to be an ophthalmologist surgeon soon,i have to be!!) but since this is something i have never done before,im a bit alarmed!

        Also my 2 eproms read:

        make: ST
        M27C256B
        10F1L
        9G003 V5
        MYS 9G 649

        and the other reads:
        make:ST
        M27C512
        1071 L
        9G005 V5
        MYS 9G 705

for those who know,or understand.are these going to work??

here some desoldering tools from ebay:

          http://shop.ebay.de/?_from=R40&_trks...%C3%B6tstation

          I bought this:
          zd-917

zd-915 demo to do it easy way

Use additionally special desoldering tin (like this: http://www.ameritronics.com/lowmelt_...ip_quickly.htm ) that has lower melting temperature than the regular tin. Add first extra amount of lowmelt desolder tin to all those pin positions where tin removal is necessary. Then use the desolder-suction tool to get all tin away.
