we've got it home after braking down on the motorway friday night
as far as i know he traveling along and it seemed as though he had ran over something because it heard a thud underneath the car and then it just cut out
so far we have found the small water temp sensor wires have been pulled out of plug we have connected these back up !! (its the one with 2 wires)
the fault is that it starts,runs and rev's but if you leave to idle or hold the rev's at say 2500 rpm it seems to bog down and missfire with black smoke out the back and a smell of fuel and eventually cut out and also which is strange that the fuel gauge reads quater of a tank with the key out and as soon as you turn the ignition on the gauge reads empty (it seems to be back to front lol)
we've swapped off my car the airflow sensor,crankshaft and rpm sensor,coils,POS and plugs but still no difference
hopefully someone can help coz were at a bit of a loss with what to check from here thanks

one minute i was crusin down the m40 the next i was havin to dash on to the hard shoulder, now when i stopped the car wouldnt even idle, would start up fine then just die, u could rev it fine tho, soon as it idles goodnight, after a long ball ache off the RAC to get home i got my head down to start fresh in the mornin on finding the problem, i started my car to find not only does it hold 1000rpm on its own with a hint of missfire, the petrol gauge is workin back to front, any attempt to move the car to get in and out the garage is hard work, any load on the engine it dies, now we did hear a noise comin from behind the fuse box, sounds like an air leak but the only thing i know round that area is my boost guage pipe goes thru it, so will be havin a look tonight, will post back later if we can find a leak, thanks for all ur help i use my car to get me down to my camp ( im in the staffords ) so its vital i get the beast running, catch u all later
