    engine support mount broken

hi all i have just come across a big problem . am in the process of doing some repairs was trying to replace the engine mounts as one of them was leaking and saw that the alloy arm coming off the engine to the mount is broken off the engine and has only one bolt holding it on. now what are your thoughts why this has broke? the car has been shaking really hadly on braking latelly which i had put down to the brakes being a bit worped. have put a dti on and they had 0.2mm run out. now i'm confused to weather it was the brakes making the car shudder and broke the mount or the engine mount causing the shudder? had a front end smack a year ago and in the process of repairing it changed the stub mount for a 034 solid one. the break has been resent as it is still clean

Got any pictures to help us.

Those mount are quite strong could it have been slightly cracked in the accident and gone since then?

One of my engine mount arms was cracked when I bought the rear ended car. I think the front must have been bumped too because the gearbox mount arm was broken too. I got a replacement from Sal though so all is ok now with the engine in the new car. Is it possible the crack was done at the time of the accident but only since the new mount went on it has loosened and the gap widened so it's now noticable?

                I've had something similar.
After I bumped the front of mine I had new engine mounts. The numpty bloke who refitted that alloy bracket didn't tighten the bolts up enough, two worked loose and the third snapped off flush with the block. When it was like this, I had BAD vibrations at the front. More so going round a left hand corner and on the overrun. Reason?, the drop in height of the engine on the drivers side due to the borked mounting meant the sump was touching the subframe. A defty mechanic friend of mine managed to wind the snapped off bolt out and then three new bolts were correctly torqued up.
Not exactly the same, but defo the cause of the vibration.
While it's like that, you aren't only putting stress on the snub mount (solid or not) but also the other engine mount and the drivers gearbox mount.
I'd be sorting it soon-ish like
