Oil Comptability

Hey Folks.

I need to top up my oil, but I don't know what type I have in...
I can't do a complete oil change before I have to drive home on Saturday.

So is there any type of oil I can put in that will be compatable with whatever's in there?

I would just top it up with a fully synth 10w 40 which should be freely available. Shouldn't cause you any problems then you can do a proper change in the near future and put something decent in!!

2 things

1) Check your service history normally the type of oil used is on the receipts.

2) Change the oil! If you don't know whats in there change it so you do know for future reference.

1) I checked the service history and it didn't say what type of oil was used at the last change.
2) I can't change the oil before I have to drive home on Saturday.

I'm looking for a get out of jail free solution...
