    Erratic Starting on 2.6

    Hello!

On my '94 2.6 I have experienced various lenghts of cranking time since owning.

It wouldnt start when I first had her after a short time,so the crank sensor was replaced and all was ok.I still had the situation where rarely would it fire up striaght away as it should. Most times it will crank over about 5 or 6 times before ignition.

Would folk simply suggest crank sensor, ignition amplifier or something else???

    Thx in advance !

Cold start or hot start gives the problem, or both?

    Maybe fuel pressure related?

if cold restart could be the fuel pressure regulator!

        .

Its either, hot or cold. There seems to be no pattern to it.

Is the FPR easy to change, find and cheap to buy on these?? I know what they look like but not looked for mine yet..

Could it perhaps be the fuel filter thats clogged???Im thinking now that it has been down into the red a fair few times and not had a filter change since I had it.

        Wish I'd checked this before I asked!!LOL!

Oh well, not the first time Ive made a complete **** out of myself on an Audi forum!!

FPR is easy to change , price i dont know , from bosch like 80$ , its located on the fuel injectors pipe. on the right side , just a slide clip and it get out and a vacuum hose connected to it and of corse the return fuel hose.

          cheers
