    High Output Coil Problem

I came across an unexpected problem today when fitting my new 034 H/O Coil kit. I knocked up a bracket for mounting the coils, plugged everything in and started her up. The 1st 20seconds at idle sounded fine, then it missed and spluttered on and off, revving freely sometimes and missing on others. Checked and double checked all connections and made sure leads were firmly located. I didn't have any wiring instructions but I'm sure there is only a one combination that would allow the thing to start and I did remember how my 1.8T coil conversion was wired.
The only thing I can think is that I may have a duff coil in my set, has anyone else out there got a set of these coils and think I have missed something glaringly obvious?
A rough guide to my wiring: When removing old coil set I was left with the following O\E wiring -
2 white female 3 pin plugs
1 brown female four pin plug (after disconnecting from POS)
1 black female four pin plug (after disconnecting from POS)

I connected the 2 3 pin plugs from the new harness to the 2 white 3 pin plugs, the black four pin connector from the new harness with complete 4 pins I connected to the brown 4 pin plug and the last two remaining black 4 pin plugs were connected. Finaly I attached the 2 earth straps to the back of the IM.

Was seriously pi**ed when I had to put everything back to stock in the pouring rain, which then when started idled and ran fine.

Does anyone have any ideas what these coils are off out of interest?

    Thanks in advance

I am really confused why 034 does not supply instructions, however, simple for both their 1.8t coil pack kit or this HO coil kit. Nevertheless, it should be a case of connecting the white 3 pin power connectors (one on which will only have 2 pins in it, nevermind) and the two 4 pin connectors (the one with 4 pins to the OE harness connector with 4 pins and the 3 pin one to the 3 pin one).

That said, I have been hunting for the source of the HO coils to develop my own DIY. No such luck, yet. And let me guess 034 has Dremelled off the P/Ns on the ones you have, right?

Cheers URS4boy, you've confirmed I had everything plugged in correctly.
Your right about the part numbers, no sign of any numbers on the coils.
In fairness 034 did supply instructions for the 1.8T kit, just not the H/O kit.

Well I certainly stand corrected. Presumably the HO coil instructions are similar re: connecting to the harness plugs.

                  Thanks for posting that.
