    Rods

    Hello!
I saw that alot of you are prefering the Corrilo or Pauter rods and not Scat wich are more cheap. Question is, Wich are the main advantages and disatvantages between these rods.
Scat can create problems for an engine with ~ 500 NM ? Or the other 2 are for much more then Scat?
    Thank You!
    Eugen

      Thank you for reply.
I hope is no problem with them also because i have 1 set for my 400 hp project.
Is confusing because is a big price diference between these.
Probably the others are more torque resistant. Dont know!
      Hope to be ok!
      All the best!

Quality is the difference. Pauter and Carillo are the best quality on the market.

Scat are lower quality rods for those on a tighter budget.

For 400 bhp they are more than fine, they've been pushed to 600-700 bhp in the US.

Its not as if my car spends all its time at WOT.

Tbh in the last week its lucky to have done 10miles.

I saw many 4cyl 1.8t engines running more than 700HP on them..Do you have link where they are talking about bad quality?

i think i play it on the safe side with one of those .
is it hp or nm that bends rods?

NM in lower rev range is what causes rods to bend

i hope that for ~500+ NM at low rews they will be good.

im now at 520Nm@3760rpm and have no issues with them. But i am going to transfer the curve a little later to avoid surge. In any case it is difficult to get too much Nm in short revs cause turbo gets bigger and lag as well.Of course if you are building a stroker, thats another thing...

noo! I am trying to achieve an reliable 400 hp with how much down torque i can... Off course depend on the remap... Hope for this the Scat will be enough to not create problems... (i will have aan ecu with 1.8 turbo coils and modified 3B loom for that) About the ignition...I understand that this will be good for the internals..

                              well,
if you use a garrett turbo,it can boost really low and maybe give you a decent 400hp,but that also brings surging(better thing of some head porting)
if you use a thrust bearing turbo(KKK)etc, then you avoid the surge, but high boost will come later.
