Cruising speed EGT temperatures

I was wondering if these temperatures are ok or what are you seeing those who have an EGT probe.

With mine fitted on the turbo hotside yesterday on a small trip i had the following indications.
6th gear at 130-140Kms(85ml)

1)on level plane and cruise control on(meaning part throttle as less possible to achieve better fuel consumption),being on the middle of the vaccum area of the boost gauge----->700-750C

2)same conditions only this time slight uphill nothing serious,boost gauge showing 0bar of boost now------>800-850C

Overall on the highway the temps where from 700-820C while on cruise control which i wondered if they are ok as Erdal had noticed that the best cruising temp for me would be around 700-750C so not to be lean.

any thoughts?

my probe is around 3 inch from the flange on the turbo. i see

1. about 660-700c at cruise.

2. max at around 730ish on crusie with a tad more throttle/load.

i think that a degree or so more timing may helpm cool her off. i run 1.1 lamdba there. 1.05 helps a bit on the heat. i dont see heat as an issue as long as it doesn't get any hotter. the heat really helps burn off the crap.

I get ~650 700 celsius when cruising ~ 3000 rpm. At idle 350 400.

thanks,that helps a lot actually,cause basically those temps you describe are natural as mine is fitted closer to heat!

I have the probe inserted in the hole from the check pipe before Lambda. I dont know how is it. The EGT probe i have is actualy the V8 catalist temp sensor. Is working great. The problem is that is not fast, has a delay in readings.. You have the same or is reading instantaneous?

my reading is very fast and almost instantaneous.Since located right at where the gasses exit the EM ant enter the hotside,i would think that it's the closest point where i could get a reading from.So 950 as maximum and 850 as max in cruising uphill at 140kms would be ok i think.
i also read somewhere that the new focus ST have treated EMs to be able to sustain more degrees(so there can be more stoichiometric mixture and better fuel consumption).The treatment made is probably cryogenic,making the metal parts into martensite.So since mine have also the same treatment it would be ok...

you forgot to mention how far away from the turbo is the sensor!

I think for that distance we have probably the same EGTs more or less...

mine is after the turbo...sooo i think i have also ~750 800!....i think is ok.
