    2.8 V6 Mods?

    Hello folks...

Sorry to be so vague... but I was wondering what engine mods could I carry out on a 2.8 V6 ? Shes not a Quattro model. I havent got thousands of pounds, but what would a few hundred quid get me, and what would be best?

    Is the 2.8 very tunable??

I always see "superchipped" 80's for sale on eBay, but I duno what this actually does, or who would do it for me? Is it remapping of some kind?

    Cheers for any help!
Ive got love for you, In my Audi 80 ... Eigh-ty

Anything is "very tunable" with money but the short of it is no. The intake breathing and exhaust are very restrictive. With a proper exhaust and boring out the throttle body you will notice an improvement, but aside from little mods here and there, there's no bolt on commerically available to give you s2 oomph.

some knarly cams would be nice ... but no.
I looked into it when i had my 2.8 CQ a few years back - very little you can do unfortunately

I recommend a cone filter though - if just for the roar alone

I had one and took the CAT's off, that made an improvement
IMHO No re-map is gonna give you any big gains on this engine.

Yea man, there is nothing for us 12v v6-ers. Get a cone filter, makes a bit of a difference. Tune it up and maybe cat-back exhaust, but that about it.

I agree with everything above. I ran a 2.8 Coupe for 9 years and never found any decent mods.

A chip will cost you between £250 and £500 and give between 10-18 BHP improvement - and only then if you have already worked on the airbox and exhaust.

You can bore the throttle body, but this is only going to give about 3-5BHP max, with the downside of losing low rev torque (which is more useful IMHO that top end BHP)

Cams and a remap should give the largest single improvement, particularly if on top of a cone filter and 3" cat back zorst, but you'll still struggle to get to more than 200BHP.

Personally, I would leave it alone and appreciate the smooth V6 for the great cruiser that it is. If you want massive tuning capabilities, you need an S2.

            Cheers n

Pop a supercharger on it. There was a chap at Coombe in a red V6 Coupe that had done this. It sounded a bit odd but went well by all accounts? I think he's done a write up on audifans? Not sure if it was a cheap mod though if you're on a tight budget...
