They probably are wrong. I discovered this when I developed the 1.8t coil pack conversion. Check out this post and my comment about the incorrect POS pin-outs in Bentley (for the AAN):

ABY versus 3B Ecu pinout

I though that there where markings on the POS, how do you then tell them apart if you installaing a new ECU harness?Leave a comment:

OK - this is annoying me now... I got the old lapdancer fixed and a Bentley AAN CD-ROM working - it shows the following
POS #1 - ECU #01 gn/ws
POS #2 - ECU #02 li/sw
POS #3 - ECU #23 sw/gr
POS #4 - ECU #21 sw/ws
POS #5 - ECU #20 sw/ge
I just remembered I have a spare ABY loom sitting here - I'll check that too, but it will only verify pin colors from ECU pins to POS connectors - dunno if I can trust it 100% without a loom from other side of POS to the coilpacks.

Thanks Paul this is great info, will help me out when I do my conversion.
I actually have a complete AAN ECU harness, so I can check color codes if this help to 100% identify the POS channels?
Do you by any chance have stock RS2 boost and AFR chips that you could burn for me? I assume that I can use this software with my AAN ECU and 3 bar mapsensor?Leave a comment:

To hopefully bottom this out, I have cross-checked all the wiring data I have and produced this spreadsheet to aid anyone converting a 3B loom for use with an AAN/ABY/ADU ECU and the necessary direct ignition (DI) wiring changes.
I know that TommyRS has done this in the past but I have NOT used his work as reference here - not that I don't respect it - just that I want to ensure we both agree and that any typos and mistakes can be corrected once and for all.
I think the main confusion is on the POS channels - everything else should align OK.

My AAN Bentley info is on CD - doesn't load under XP - and the old W95 machine I had it installed on has died another death.
Anyone else with AAN schematics out there we can use to reference this with ?
If all else fails I'll just have to buzz it out for posterity.Leave a comment:

I'm 99% sure that is wrong - it aligns to one Audi training manual I have for AAN, but does NOT align to many variants of the official schematics for ABY & ADU.
The schematics show--->
POS#1 - ECU #23
POS#2 - ECU #02
POS#3 - ECU #01
POS#4 - ECU #21 (or 20)
POS#5 - ECU #20 (or 21)

The wiring diagrams and training material from Audi are inconsistent on this - I have spent a little time looking at it.
The info at S2central.net for the ABY/ADU ignition wiring is correct for 1-2-3 as it checks out with several versions of the ABY & ADU schematics.
However, for 4 & 5 there is some confusion as the pinout info on the schematic is mixed up...
http://s2central.net/schematics/ADU_...ematicPg13.jpg - look at pins 1, 2 & 23 from ECU and see how they make sense of I1-I2-I3 and E1-E2-E3 on that POS unit for cyls 1, 2 & 3 but not in that order.
http://s2central.net/schematics/ADU_...ematicPg14.jpg - look at how the POS pins don't line up in a meaningful way - this error occurs on all the previous ABY schematics I have. I need to dig up the AAN Bentley for comparison.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but did any of you guys actually fire up their engine and do you have the correct pin out?
Also what extra sensor are needed to get it to run?
I have decided to use the 034 high output coil kit so I dont need the valve cover etc.Leave a comment:

I can't see that being a problem either.
When you see smoke coming from your glovebox, you know you have done something wrong.
I don't have a basic map either. 3B injectors/7A FPR/ADU SW could be an interesting combination for a start.

This means i have to be faster then you!
Hmmm! You accept this?

My problem with the starting will be that i will not have a basic map for the hardware i will use.
So dont know how to. But iff will have spark and fuel...Everything is ok with the wires...no?
