Surely if you can get in a front door you can get a rear door to empty it out... Oh unless the child-locks are ON. D'oh - you might have some joy with one of those battery chargers or jump starters that works thru the ciggy socket, but I can't remember if you need the key ON to connect that ciggy socket to the battery or not.

    Unlucky !

Don't even waste your time trying to keep up with the Jones' - blast past them in 'that old Audi' which they doubtless frown upon with great indignation and snobbery.

Your S2 Avant doesn't have an '08' plate on it, but I bet its more fun and practical than anything else your neighbours have - most of whom will be paying for over the next 3 or 5 years (unless its some dull bland company car)... Then get bored with after 2 yrs cos it has some niggly fault, and they can't face the ongoing bills at the useless dealer network and they wouldn't even know how to start fixing by themself...

So they get into more hock and buy another new car - oh and that old number plate is looking a bit tired anyway so that always looks good on the school run. So let those phuckwits absorb the highest level of depreciation on their stupid cars for the 1st two years of their life and do the Jones' thing. Idiots... Sorry for rant but that mentality really cracks me up.

And people wonder why this country has credit problems... I'm seeing an absolute parallel in the UK nowadays of what I saw in the US about 7 years ago when I lived there..... And look at the state of the US economy now (regardless of the billions of federal dollars spent/wasted in foreign affairs of a dubious nature).

              Wake up Britain.

Can we make that a Sticky?

Loving your rant Paul and I TOTALLY agree. How do my neighbours run TWO brand new Ford Mundano's? Must be £10k depreciation in the first two days!

                  Muppets, the lot of them.

                  Sorry, way OT.

pretty sure the ciggy lighter is independant of the ignition, mine was working on sunday with the ignition off - i know this becuase i accidentally pushed it down and then burnt myself removing the rear consol

Can you get to the starter motor with a set of jump leads? If you can get under the car and just hit the motor with current for a short burst it would be enough for you to operate the central locking and get the doors open.

Actually - THAT is a good idea there... Access is pretty impossible from the top though - needs to be an undertray off job and a LOT of care that the +ve jump lead doesn't touch earth on the way up there. Attach it to battery on S2 first and leave other end loose until happy it is tight on the +ve bolt.

I'd say attach leads to body/chassis earth and to the alternator+.

That'll work too as long as there isn't lots of insulation round the +ve pin on the alternator - which I think there is on mine - some sort of shroud from memory.
