With huge thanks to Aiden (quattronutter) we put it on Vagcom today and found a code for the maf, so that backs up what everyone was suggesting
Also did a leak test and it was perfect.

Will have to wait 3 weeks now for cash flow, but then will be getting a new maf and lambda and hope that solves it

I would say its you MAF too, mine needs changing as its running rich and feels like yours i.e holding back slightly on boost, i bathed mine in IPA and it made a massive difference for a week and it went back to normal
It will cost you £10 for a multimeter and you can use these instructions for testing yor MAF - 1st post on this thread

im only up the road if you want to check for fault codes,if nothing comes to light then it will most likely be maf, could also be lambda as said

Personally I would not spend any more money untill you've actually done a boost leak test. Peering around and poking about and saying everything looks ok is just not good enough.

Sounds like a new lambda could pay for itself it that's the problem

Cheers, I try to come, but as its running too well it would cost a fortune in fuel!

If you can get down to th Midlands Breakfast club this sunday I will bring a spare MAF (could also be faulty though) with me, VagCom cables and laptop.
There are a few others going from here.

Plenty of spare MAFs come up now and again. I got one from Slovenia for 25euros and it works fine! Not local but I'm sure someone nearby you will have a spare.
