Not sure I know what you are trying to describe Timucin. Do you mean the dabs of paint on the valve springs?

i never disambled an audi engine before and i dont know anything about springs..how they look like?

I think they're talking about the valve springs retainers' grooves... but I'm not sure...

i asked dbilas about this stuff,what they mean ?
here is the answer:

-Please look at your valve rods, if they have 2 or 3 notches. This we must know for send the right valve springs!


does anybody know the answer of this question? cause i dont and dont want to remove the engine from now to see the notches....

Timucin...IIRC, the valve stem has only one groove on the S2.

took a look to my ADU valves this morning. As Steve sayd only one groove (rounded shape).
