I know the vw 16v block has the same height and bore of the audi 2.2l i just got my pistons today and on the box it says vw 16v 9A is this Common? I did get 5 pistons and rings etc. Anyone else get their pistons from Je and get that on the box ?

I know, that VW guys are using S2 pistons in some turbo VW's. If I remember correctly - in KR and PL engines. Assuming, that 9A has same block (not sure about it) as those mentioned before - they may work, and be same item.

the 9a is a bigger bore. 82.5 IIRC. its a different block.

the oil squirter is on the oposite side in a VW meaning the pistons are machined different.

never been sure why people use s2 pistons as the standard ones are good for 400WHP+

KR ands PL are the small bore units. they dont take a 83mm too well as it interferes with the squirter. 9a will take 84mm no worries.

9a is same as audi 6a. it has a bubbled out lower block to clear the crank difference.

Guess I will have to wait and see

              Bore:3.248 = 82.5 mm

They are a custom order as it looks like they have contact reduction grooves at the top of the piston.
