Around 400 with a #8 hot side... I guess a bit more could be done but then I dunno for how long your turbo will last....

I know of a oil cooled KKK27/29 (i think) for sale soon, would this be a bit overkill?? I can get it for good money. Or should i just have a #8 exhaust housing fitted?
K27/29 is overkill IMHO plus you'll need an SQ EM and a custom downpipe, as well as custom oil lines... but if you're up for it, ****, let's go for 500 HP if you drop the CR and have the Eurospec rods

PS @Mihnea, when are you next over in the UK. I need some stuff doing to my car and I have a special present waiting for you
I have no idea yet mate, I guess when your friend Mr PNess gets his car fixed and Sal gets it running I might come over for a quick mapping weekend...

No, its not a whore. LOL
    ****e, now that's a bummer

      Damn even more money

The downpipe is no problem. Neither are the oil lines. Just need the blueprints for a SQ or similar manifold and I can make/get it made for me. Is it best to use mild steel for the manifold opposed to SS?

Eurospecs will be ordered before GTI this year. After that its time for the rebuild

Just read under the for sale area about this turbo of TunedS2's. It has a 57mm exit on the hot side. HTH someone. Cant say I have ever measured my exit hole.

It might be cheaper to get the massive injectors from Mihnea instead of RS2 ones.

I dont plan on going beyond this as its gonna be too much £££ for me.

Im getting the injectors and fuel pump for £250, which i cant really see being beaten.

Just wanna see what i should get power wise to see if its worth spending all the £££ on or not

According to what i want to do and advice from mihnea, with RS2 turbo, manifold, intercooler and injectors, metal head gasket and RS2 conrod bearings, plus of course the obligatory remap, you should be around 370bhp..

Ant - sounds like you got a good deal on the injectors and a fuel pump - which one?

I didn't think you needed to change your fuel pump for 370bhp though.

If you are happy with 370bhp, go with an RS2 turbo.

I thought the K26/27s aren't going to get much over 380bhp, if so the benefit of the RS2 turbo, low lag and the high torque might be better.

If you want 400bhp+, I thought you had to go with a K26/27/29 or a mark turbo.

Who is making this K26/K27 hybrid?
From what I have seen of straight K27 turbos, the mass of the turbine and shaft is too heavy for 2.2 liter motors. It'll be too much lag.

How are they fitting the K27 compressor housing to the K26 middle and hotside. One would need a custom backplate would they not?

Also if they are using a K26 turbine wheel, the diameter of the shaft is smaller than K27 compressor wheels. Are they fitting a sleeve or casting custom K27 wheels with smaller diameter shafts? And, in the end the finished product would dimensionally look alot like a K26/Garret

And.. If you are going with a custom turbo like that which requires mapping and new lines, why not the K26/Garrett route? One could buy two Garrets for the price of one KKK hybrid. Garrets give you the option of ball bearings and a host of other new features not available on the K26 body. One could also use other Garret cold sides and centers with even more features. Even if you went with normal journal bearings which is similar to a K26, the price would allow a complete turbo rebuild in the budget.

Loads of Turbo companies in the UK will do the K26/27 hybrids. I bought mine for about £800 +VAT, that was a brand new unit, not a re-con.

The Garrett route is very tempting, but couldnt be arsed at the time of my conversion to do it. My turbo has taken over a year of abuse and is still in very good condition. It has std type of bearings, 360 deg. Doesnt need much modifications to the car to fit either.

Like Doug said, the K26/27 cars are limited to about 380bhp on std bottom end. Need to wind up the boost to about 2 bar for better bhp. Also the larger turbos dont have the same torque as the RS2 setup, this could/can cause clutch slip problems. As some of us have found
